Beginning June 1st, the public now has the opportunity to nominate neighborhood land to our acquisition program for possible conservation.
***PROGRAM CLOSED - We have closed the program to new nominations as of September 16, 2024 so that evaluation of the parcels nominated to date can begin. We will contact each nominator with the outcome of our evaluation in the near future. ***
**AS OF 9-16-24 ACCEPTANCE OF NOMINATIONS IS CLOSED WHILE WE REVIEW ALL RECEIVED TO DATE FOR POSSIBLE NEXT STEPS. All nominators will be notified by email directly on the status of their nomination.**
Nomination requires completion of a Land Acquisition Nomination Form which can be found here: https://forms.gle/sACcFzXYpPAAkdes9
Upon receipt of an application, land will be reviewed against our conservation objectives and will then be presented to the Board of Directors for further consideration. When a property is chosen by the Board to pursue, the nominating party will be contacted to discuss the nomination further. When a property is not chosen, the nominating party will be notified of that as well.
Land donors can potentially receive a tax credit of up to the land's current appraised value - please contact an accountant for further information applicable to your personal financial situation.
A "bargain sale" price - which is a sale for less than market value - can also bring a tax benefit to a bargain sale seller - please contact an accountant for further information applicable to your personal financial situation.
Fundraised dollars from the public will continue to be needed to make purchase acquisitions happen. We receive no City, County, State or Federal funding that can be used to purchase land. We continue to utilize GoFundMe as our main fundraiser platform for each contract we enter into, as to date we have not received donations large enough to create a significant surplus to draw from on an ongoing basis to pay for a contracted parcel immediately.
We require a minimum of 30 days to attempt to raise funds to meet a purchase goal.
We don't normally run more than one GoFundMe fundraiser at a time.
As of 7/31/2024 we have yet to have a fundraiser fail and we hope to continue that success rate moving forward!
No commercial, industrial or multi-family zoned land nominations will be accepted for review.
Please direct questions regarding land nominations to: ECNPlandnominations@gmail.com.
